Strato, the Floating Continent and the Tower
After Advent the route climbs: Strato for the second Golden Disk, the Floating Continent's jungle and molten halves, Mesos for Twig's family, then the Floating Tower and Solus. The tower has no normal enemies, only gravity platforming.
The last third of Owlboy climbs. After Advent the route goes up through Strato, into the Floating Continent, through snowy Mesos, and finally into the Floating Tower for the Solus fight. It is the longest stretch without a hub, and the point where the game stops giving you new tools and starts testing the ones you have.
This page covers the route in order. It assumes you have Alphonse and have finished the Advent sequence.

Strato: thorns and the second disk
Strato is the layer above Tropos, described in the community documentation as an area full of vines and thorns. It connects Tropos, Mesos and the Floating Continent, and it holds one Golden Disk plus two of the three disk placement spots.
What to do here:
- Push through the thorns. Some paths are blocked by thorn walls that need a gunner or a spin to clear.
- Find the disk. Go up until you see an arrow sign pointing up on the right with thorns on the left; go through the thorns, take the top-left path at the circling Spikeballs, and the disk floats inside a large pink-leafed tree.
- Note the placement spots. One is past the Levigates, to the right of a square sign and up a waterfall; the other is above the same sign, to the left past the spores.
Enemies here include Slumps, which roll at you and splash toxic slime when popped, and Spikeballs, which are armoured until you spin them or hit them with Alphonse's blast.
The Floating Continent: jungle and molten
The Floating Continent is the third dungeon. It was a home of the Ancient Owls and the place the Hex Machine was created, according to the Book of Noctae. It has two halves: a jungle and a molten section.
| Section | Enemies | Coins | Notable |
|---|---|---|---|
| Jungle | Meat-eating gnats, Vent Snakes, Wilks, Fuses, Torques | 300 | Miniboss fight |
| Molten | Wards, Molts, Kaboons | 300 | Guardian fight; lava kills in one touch |
Two practical notes. Vent Snakes lunge from wall holes on a rhythm and the larger ones jump between holes; hitting the head kills them, hitting the body only removes segments. In the molten half, lava is a one-hit kill on contact, so the section is about platforming discipline rather than combat.
At the end of the molten half you fight the Mechanical Worm. The pattern is readable: it moves, stops to breathe fire, then charges. Shoot the head when it stops, get behind it during the charge, and repeat for roughly five or six cycles. The anniversary update rebalanced boss HP, so the number of cycles can be shorter than in the 2016 build.
Mesos: snow and Twig
Mesos is the highest area reachable without a rocket or a relic; the air is too thin to fly normally, which is the game's excuse for changing the movement rules. It is snow and ice, and it is where Twig's family lives: his father "Pa" and his brother Roland.
The story beat is Twig's. He left home because his family disapproved of his spider costume and because Dirk pretended to be his friend. In Mesos he finds his family being harassed by pirates, removes the costume, and is accepted. He then joins the party as the third gunner.
Twig's grapple changes traversal. It reaches across gaps, pulls switches, and is the tool the Floating Tower expects you to have. If you rushed Mesos, go back and spend five minutes learning the grapple before the tower.
The Floating Tower
The Floating Tower is the final dungeon, created by the Ancient Owls and reached through Kernelle at the end of the game. It has no minor enemies; the challenge is spinning and gravity-based platforming built around Otus's inability to keep flying in thin air.
It holds one Golden Disk. After going up one of the spinning platforms, take the right path at the fork, follow the floating rock, and the disk is in a grand room inside a building. The tower also contains statues and paintings of the Ancient Owls, which is where the story page gets much of its visual evidence.
The platforming rule is simple: momentum is preserved between spins, so commit to a direction before you jump. Falling returns you to the last platform, not to the start, which makes the section fair.
Solus: the final fight
Solus is a puzzle wrapped in a boss fight. Three relics circle him, coloured red, green and blue:
| Relic colour | Tool that removes it |
|---|---|
| Blue | Twig's web shot |
| Green | Geddy's blaster |
| Red | One Alphonse shotgun blast |
Knock all three down and Solus loses a phase, then the relics return and you repeat. After two rounds he enters the final phase, where he throws pink fireballs; Twig's grapple can reflect them back into him. Geddy and Alphonse add damage between reflections.
The fight is the best argument for the game's gunner system: each phase asks for a different character, and switching is instant. The anniversary update modified several boss patterns, so the timing of the relic returns may differ from 2016 footage, but the colour-to-tool mapping is unchanged.
After Solus
The ending resolves the relics, the Anti-Hex and the islands. The endings page covers what happens and what the final scene implies; the walkthrough hub puts the whole route in one table if you want to check what you missed.
What to bring
Before you leave Tropos for the last time, three things are worth doing. Buy the Nice Canteen if you have not (750 coins), because the tower's platforming punishes a short health bar. Pick up the Scope if you can afford it; longer blaster range makes the Vent Snakes in the jungle much less annoying. And finish any Golden Disk you have already found, because the Eternal Sanctuary is a post-game location and the disks are easy to forget once the credits roll.
You do not need the Spectre Cloak to finish the game. It requires every coin, which is a completionist project rather than a story requirement, and the coins page is honest about how much tracking that involves.
